Jannatul Ma’la

The picture above shows Jannatul Ma’la, the principle historical graveyard in Makkah which is located in a valley east of the Masjid ul Haram. Several members of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W family and many Sahabah R.A are buried here.

The following personalities are buried in this graveyard:

Ummul Mu’mineen Khadeejah R.A, the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W
Qasim, the eldest son of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W from his wife Khadija R.A; he died in infancy.
Abdullah, the second son of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W from his wife Khadija R.A; he was also known as Tahir and Tayyab.
Abu Talib – the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W
Abdul Muttalib – the grandfather of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W

On no account should anybody pray towards a grave or seek supplication through them as this is tantamount to committing shirk, associating partners with Allah (swt).
